Banana Upside Down Cake

This banana cake is full of flavor and topped with a caramelized brown sugar and banana slice layer that is simply to die for!

This is for when you have a craving for something with bananas but don't want to settle for a muffin or banana bread. This is a little bit extra special. Give it a try!

Banana Upside down cake

Preheat the oven to 180 C


For the top

•2 sliced bananas

•4 tbsp brown sugar

•4 tbsp butter

For the cake

•1 cup wheat flour

•1/2 cup oats

•1 tsp baking powder

•1/2 tsp salt

•3 ripe bananas

•3/4 cup brown sugar

• 1 egg

•1/4 cup soft butter


For the top

• Melt the butter and brown sugar in a microwave and pour into the prepared baking dish and let it coat the bottom nicely

• Arrange the sliced banana in a circular pattern and set aside

For the cake

•In a large bowl, combine the wheat flour, oats, baking powder and salt. Stir it together with a fork.

•In another bowl, mash the bananas and to this, add the egg, butter and sugar and give it a whisk until smooth

•Pour this wet mixture into the flour mixture and fold it all together gently.

•Pour this over the prepared banana slices

•Bake for 25 minutes
